Did you hear? Grovetown is Growing

A little birdie told us Grovetown was growing (and by little birdie we mean the director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta division). Plans to open an 114,000 square-foot Kroger Marketplace and several retail and restaurant out-parcels are in the works.

The new shopping center will be a great addition to the city, creating jobs and giving home buyers even more reason to look into settling down here.

Grovetown, Georgia was recently named the fifth safest city in Georgia.

The Kroger supermarket will be located just off Interstate 20’s Grovetown exit. Construction for the project was approved last month and will begin sometime in 2015. If everything goes smoothly, which it is expected to, the Kroger Marketplace will be ready for business in 2016.

The Developers, remind us that there are still a few obstacles to go through including the rezoning of 10 residential industrial and commercial parcels off William Few Parkway and Lewiston Road. The rezoning was scheduled for a vote by Columbia County planning commissioners and will be forwarded to the county commission for final approval.

Residents of Grovetown can expect plenty of advantages with the opening of this new shopping center. The Marketplace will carry products that a typical Kroger does not offer such as jewelery, decorative goods, apparel, office and school supplies, furniture, and toys. Included in the store will also be an in-store banking service, Starbucks coffee, a drive through pharmacy, and a fuel center. In addition to the grocery store is an attached 12,000-square-foot shop, and nine surrounding out-parcels which will be home to be new restaurants and retail stores.

The new supermarket is projected to create between 250 and 300 jobs and be the first Marketplace for the Augusta area
