The Oliver Hardy Festival is held in Harlem, Georgia on Saturday, October 6th. This year will mark the 30th anniversary of the fall festival and parade. The day is full of handcrafted items, live entertainment, Laurel and Hardy impersonators and an abundance of food.
The festival is an opportunity for the small city of Harlem to showcase its attributes. The downtown area is full of character and charm, a unique spot in Columbia County. Movie fans travel from miles and miles away to see the birthplace of film star Oliver Hardy. His legendary comedy was featured in more than 100 films and he is an icon of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
There is a new Harlem library which features a large stage for live performances this year. Harlem City Hall will feature a kids area with inflatables and activities, while there will be approximately 150 vendors for adults to browse through and enjoy. There are homemade arts and crafts as well as sponsored information booths.
The festival will be a fun day for anyone to enjoy and is the perfect way to start the fall season. Enjoy touring the city of Harlem!
