7 Ways to Treat Mom for Mother’s Day

This Sunday, May 12 is Mother’s Day. The special mom in your life deserves recognition year-round, but this is the day to really show her how much she means to you. If you’re at a loss for what to do this Mother’s Day and don’t want to deal with the crowds in the card aisle and busy restaurants Sunday afternoon, take a look at these 7 tips to make your mom feel extra special this weekend.

Take Care of the Dishes

Don’t let mom touch a single dish or complete any other chore this weekend. Pick up the workload and let her relax!

Include the Little Ones

If you have young children in the family, let them bring mom breakfast in bed or give her a bouquet of flowers. If you plan on gifting her a special piece of jewelry, let the kids make a handmade bracelet or necklace with craft beads so they feel important too!

Treat Her to a Delicious Brunch

Let mom’s first meal of the day be filling and wonderful. Avoid the busy afternoon crowds by scheduling a breakfast or brunch at one of her favorite spots in town. If you’d rather stay home, have the family gather together to make her favorite omelette and waffles!

Let Her Have a Free Afternoon

Give her a gift certificate to a local spa and send her off for a massage, pedicure and/or facial. If that’s not her style, she’ll more than likely be thrilled to take a solo trip to Target! Trust me (a mom is writing this. I know).

Relaxation

Even though it sounds soothing, a day of pampering and shopping can be exhausting. Take time as a family to hang out in the living room or backyard and unplug. Leave the phones elsewhere and just chat with mom to make her feel extra loved!

Classic Gifts

Just like a birthday, Mother’s Day is definitely associated with gifts. Whether it’s handmade, a nice piece of jewelry or a gift card, give mom something she’ll love and enjoy.

More Food

Though mom tends to be the cook of the family, let her take a break and try a recipe that she’ll enjoy. Let the whole family get involved for a potluck-style meal.

There will truly never be one way to show all of our appreciation for mom, but let your creativity flow and pick some ideas based on what she personally enjoys! No matter what you end up doing, she will feel loved and appreciated this Mother’s Day.
