Aiken’s Summerton Village is a steadily growing neighborhood located off of Whiskey Road. Bill Beazley Homes and Berkshire Hathaway Services Beazley, Realtors are busy constructing and selling these top-notch homes and the neighborhood is expected to contain over 300 homes upon completion. Summerton Village focuses on ranch style floor plans, but two-stories are available as well and every home has semi-custom options during the design process.

Summerton Village is located in Aiken County, placing it in the Aiken County Public School District. Elementary-aged students that you may have in your family would be zoned for Millbrook Elementary School, which is just under 5 miles away from the neighborhood. Kennedy Middle School is for 6th-8th grade students and is roughly 4 miles away. High school students would attend South Aiken High School, also about 4 miles away from the neighborhood. No matter what age your student is, you can have peace of mind knowing that there is a short and easy commute to their school.

For those with a green thumb or desiring to learn, Aiken County is in the 8a plant hardiness zone. This means that plants can survive in temperatures as low as 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

A multitude of fruit trees are ideal for growth in this zone; a few of which include Bing Cherry, Fuji Apple, Hazelnut, Meyer Lemon, Pear, Raspberry and Tangerine. Some of the vegetables that grow best are arugula, broccoli, beets, carrots, cauliflower, kale, onions, potatoes and spinach.

If flowers are your forte, try decorating your yard or garden with any of the following: Boxwood, Cotton Hibiscus, Hollyhock, Southern Magnolia, Tupelo Honey Rose and White Flowering Dogwood.

As far as herbs, expect success with basil, lavender, mint, oregano, rosemary and sage.
