One of the best socially-distanced activities to enjoy during the summer and fall is camping. Whether you want a quiet weekend alone or want to be with friends and family, camping comes with beautiful views and a disconnect from reality. Some sites don’t require much travel and you’d be surprised at the secret spots you can find so close to home! Here are a few of our favorite campsites around the area.

Mistletoe State Park

Mistletoe is a short drive to Appling and boasts some of the best features of southern nature. It is on the 71,000 acre Clarks Hill Lake and is full of fish for a great catch. The campground contains cabin rentals as well as sites to park your RV or set up a tent. There are also picnic shelters and beach swimming areas if you want to celebrate a birthday or just take a day trip. Wildwood Park

Just past Pollard’s Corner in Appling, you’ll find Wildwood Park and Campground. There are plenty of beach areas for swimming and ample campsites for tents or RVs. According to Columbia County Magazine, Wildwood has continuously been voted Best Campground in Columbia County. For more information and to reserve a site, visit here

Diamond Lakes Campground

Diamond Lakes Campground is located in Hephzibah, Georgia and offers a quiet getaway not far from the big city of Augusta. There are 26 large campsites available across the approximately 300-acre park. Reservations can be made here

Ridge Road Campground

Ridge Road is located on a peninsula of Clarks Hill Lake and comes with beautiful waterfront views for a serene weekend of camping. There are 63 campsites available with electrical hookups as well. There is also a playground for little ones and a boat ramp for fishing or cruising the water. Visit here for more information.

Hamilton Branch State Park

On the South Carolina side of Clarks Hill Lake, you’ll find the beautiful Hamilton Branch State Park. There are over 150 spacious sites, some of which are waterfront for a beautiful view and shoreline fishing. Reserve your spot here

There are many more campgrounds to visit in the area or within a short drive, but these are some of the most popular with the best views. Gather family and friends or enjoy a getaway alone and don’t forget the bug spray!
