Labor Day might take on a whole new meaning in 2020. It has been a wild ride of a year so far and we still aren’t done. Many businesses that are deemed “essential” have been in overdrive during the pandemic and Labor Day will be a much anticipated time to relax for a few hours. If you’re looking for ways you can lay all of the stress aside on Labor Day, here are a few ideas:
Whether you have your own pool or your neighborhood pool is still open for a while, plan to spend the day hanging out by the water. Bring a cooler, snacks, and invite some friends to float your troubles away during a rare day off of work.
Don’t worry about putting together a multi-course meal for dinner. Grill a few hotdogs and hamburgers with friends and family for a quick and delicious meal. If you plan on having multiple guests, suggest that they bring a meat of their choice so that you’re not stuck with a huge grocery bill. That will add to the relaxation on another level!
Take a ride on a local trail (the North Augusta Greeneway and Euchee Creek Greeneway are great options for the CSRA) early in the morning before it gets too hot. If you’d rather sleep in late on your day off, going in the evening before dark would be good too. You can enjoy nature and take a few deep breaths while staying active.
Give yourself the ultimate self-care day when you’re not working. Grab a luxury face mask from your local cosmetics store, soak in a hot bubble bath and wear your fluffiest robe all day. Slice up those cucumbers that are sitting in the fridge and sit them on your eyes for a few minutes to help reduce puffiness.
The best way to truly relax on Labor Day is to disconnect from your screens and internet. If you have your phone all day, you’ll be more tempted to check work emails and could fall down a rabbit hole when you’re supposed to be taking time off. Leave your phone and computer in your room and interact with the friends and family around you. A day-long technology break will do your mind and body an immense amount of good!
