Apple picking is a fall tradition you don’t want to miss. Aside from the picturesque views, there is such a thrill about eating a freshly picked, crispy apple in the cool fall weather. Plan a trip this season to a nearby apple orchard for a day of family fun. Here are a few that aren’t too long of a drive away from the CSRA.

B.J. Reece Orchards, Elijay, Georgia

It takes roughly 3.5 hours to get to Elijay from the Augusta area but the drive is well worth it for this beautiful apple picking experience. The family owned and operated orchard is open through the end of October. Their 120 acre orchard boasts 20 different types of apples and other fun things to do such as a petting farm and wagon rides are also available. Check out their website here for more information.

Hillcrest Orchards and Farms, Elijay, Georgia

Not too far from B.J. Reece is the Hillcrest Orchards and Farms. They have been growing apples here since 1946 and have you-pick apples along with fall farm fun. There is a small market to purchase fresh produce and other goodies as well as a grill for your lunch break. More info for planning your visit can be found here

Jaemor Farms, Alto, Georgia

This 350-acre farm has been owned by the Jaemor family since 1912 and is one of the country’s largest roadside markets. It is a little over 2.5 hours away from the Augusta area, making for the perfect day trip. They specialize in fresh, delicious treats such as pies and cider jelly, as well as select days of you-pick apples. Visit jaemorefarms.com for their schedule and more information.

Chattooga Belle Farm, Long Creek, South Carolina

Chattooga Belle Farm is just under 3 hours away from the CSRA and provides a beautiful view while picking apples. There are more than 20 apple varieties to choose from as well as disc golf for leisure and weekday educational tours. Here is their website for more information and scheduling.
