It’s Not Too Late to Revisit Your 2021 Resolutions!

Sure, the year is almost over. But if you’ve slipped on your New Year’s resolutions, it’s not too late to pick  back up where you left off. Many of us didn’t expect 2021 to be a continuation of 2020, yet here we are. It can be discouraging at times and tough to keep the motivation to accomplish your goals. However, it is still possible to achieve those things you were dreaming for in January.

If you wrote your goals down on paper or in a journal, pull those notes back out to remember what you set your intentions on. What were your original goals? What happened that made you slip off? Did you set too many unattainable, unrealistic goals? Treat yourself with kindness when answering these questions- resolutions remain incomplete all the time. It isn’t completely impossible to pick them back up, though.

Focus on the progress you’ve made this year. Even writing your resolutions down was a big step! If you didn’t complete them, see what you can do to get back on track. If your goal was to start walking more, plan a day this week to get to your favorite park or take a walk through your neighborhood. If you wanted to stay in touch with more friends or family members, grab your phone and text or call someone today to let them know you’ve been thinking about them. These are simple steps that can make a huge difference, no matter how long you’ve been off track.

For a fresh start, re-write your original resolutions. Break them down into small steps and see what habits you can change piece by piece to add up to a big change. Post the goal somewhere you see it daily, such as writing on your mirror with a dry-erase marker or creating a wallpaper on your phone. Try to keep track of your progress and make sure it’s something that is constantly in front of you.

Don’t give up on those goals, even if you haven’t touched them since January. It’s never too late to accomplish what you set your mind to!
