Best Spring Weekend Getaways Near the CSRA

The warm weather is slowly approaching, which means it’s time to plan fun new adventures! Dust off the dreary, rainy winter that we’ve had and make fresh memories this spring season with friends and family. Here are a few getaway ideas that aren’t too far from the CSRA.

Savannah, Georgia

Historic Savannah is just over a 2 hour drive from the Augusta area, making it a great day trip or an adventurous weekend stay. There are numerous bed and breakfast locations as well as historic tours and wonderful shops. Spend an afternoon on River Street enjoying the view while shopping local businesses and delicious restaurants.

The Rock Ranch

An hour outside of Atlanta, the Rock Ranch is an agritourism destination founded by Truett Cathy of Chick-fil-A fame. The 1,500 acre ranch has 35 attractions for kids and families of all ages to enjoy. Think of it as a larger-scale version of Grovetown’s Steeds Dairy, complete with seasonal events and memory-making fun.

Sandy Springs, Georgia

Sandy Springs is a suburb of Atlanta with the perfect blend of bustling city life and calming nature. You can enjoy outdoor adventures at the Chattahoochee River shoreline and a memorable evening meal at one of the many urban restaurants in the area.

Thomasville, Georgia

Thomasville is known for their small town southern atmosphere. It is charming and sophisticated, and would be a great weekend trip to escape the noise and busyness of life. Wine fans can tour the local vineyard and bookworms will enjoy their nationally known store, The Bookshelf. If you’re looking for a slow-paced adventure that will make you take a deep breath, visit Thomasville.

Columbia, South Carolina

It takes just over an hour to get to the bustling city of Columbia, South Carolina. Families can enjoy a day at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden or Edventure Children’s Museum. The Soda City Farmers Market is a hot spot on Saturday mornings for all things local and fresh. There are plenty of restaurants to drool over as well.

This is just a short list of unique trips you could find yourself on this spring. If you’re looking to do something besides a beach trip, one of these may be for you!
