Cooler temperatures don’t mean you need to stay cooped up inside. We’ve had enough of that in 2020, right? Now that the weather is so pleasant, take some time to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the views of nature. Interested in hanging out at the lake, but typically only go during the summer? Well, you’re in luck- there are plenty of ways to have fun at the lake during fall as well.

Go camping.

Camping has a popular reputation for summertime with days out on a boat and nights in a comfortable, air-conditioned RV. However, break out the old tent and enjoy the crisp autumn air at your favorite local campsite. There’s a special level of coziness that comes with bundling up in a sleeping bag with layers of blankets and the ones you love by your side! The views throughout the day are wonderful as well, with the reflection of bright foliage on the water while the sun is out and quiet stargazing at night. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city for a memorable weekend at the campground!

Hike the day away.

Most lake areas typically contain hiking trails around them. You may even find waterfalls or caves to explore depending on where you visit. Hiking is one of the best forms of exercise and is easier in the fall than summer when the humidity and heat are scorching. You’re less likely to be attacked by mosquitoes as well. Lace up your best hiking boots and enjoy the views!

Sit around a bonfire.

There’s something special about warming up around a fire with friends by the water. The moon glimmers over the lake and the sound of crackling flames gives a special sense of relaxation that only fall fires can bring. Gather some wood or visit a campsite with a built-in firepit, bring some marshmallows to roast and cozy up with loved ones.

Enjoy more alone time.

Since summer is the peak season for outings on the lake, you’ll have less crowding to deal with by taking a trip in the fall. It’ll be a chance to truly retreat and enjoy some quiet away from the busyness of everyday life.

Grab your favorite flannel, pack plenty of snacks and make new memories this season with a fall trip to the lake. Don’t forget to snap a few pictures and soak in the amazing views!
