Great New Year’s Resolutions!

Dic 22, 2022

gifts and resolutions

The new year is right around the corner, and we all know what that means. It’s time to come up with our New Year’s Resolutions!

And if you’re unsure what your resolutions are this year, we’ve come up with a list of them to help you out.

Do Random Acts of Kindness

Acts of kindness can make people happier. There’s a lot of research proving that people who do acts of kindness weekly or near-daily tend to live more satisfying lives than those who choose not to.

Doing an act of kindness daily or even once a week can make you feel better, more confident, and more optimistic. Plus, it benefits everyone else.

Read a Book a Month

For a lot of us, we stopped reading regularly after elementary school, and that’s a shame. With modern technology, we can all read more frequently if we choose to.

Reading helps keeps our brains healthy, increases our vocabulary, expands the creative parts of our brains, and helps us become better communicators.

The more we read, the better. Here are some simple ways to read more next year.

  • Read before you go to bed.
  • Try audiobooks.
  • Download a reading app.
  • Try out different genres.

Volunteer

There’s no better way to support the causes we believe in than by volunteering. And thanks to the internet, there are plenty of ways to do just that.

You can volunteer at a local chapter of your favorite charity or support a charity and its cause through remote work.

Consider the skills you have to offer. Or think about trying and learning something new.

Bottom line, make a little time this year to support a cause you believe in by volunteering!

Live Simpler, Buy Less

It’s an old Buddhist saying, “the more things you own, the more problems you have.”

The more things you own, the more you have to take care of. And the more you spend on items you don’t need, the stronger you desire to own more and more items you don’t need.

That’s more money coming out of your pockets, and less you can use to donate to charities or save up for major expenses like buying a new home or a car.

And you would be surprised by how this resolution can affect you.

Many who have tried this resolution have said they are humbler and happier because of it.

Try it out for yourself for one week to experience how positive this change can be.

Find a Release for Your Creative Juices

Our brains love being creative. It’s why we often get random ideas that seemingly come out of nowhere. So let’s find a way to let our minds express what they want.

Whether through crafting, woodwork, writing, or painting, let your creative ideas manifest and create something you can be proud of.

Donate More

If you haven’t already started donating, you should make this part of your New Year’s Resolution.

And if you have been donating and still have a little more to give, you should consider giving a little more to support the causes you believe need the most help.

Get Rid of Subscriptions You Never Use

We all have streaming services we rarely seem to use. So why not get rid of them?

If you spend a lot of time watching Amazon Prime and little time on Hulu, what’s the point of keeping Hulu?

Always remember you can always resubscribe to that streaming service later on.

Play Around More Often

Kids aren’t the only ones who can spend an hour playing around. Adults can play too! And there are various ways you can play around.

You could simply play video games with your loved ones, join a dance class, or play touch football with your friends.

However you choose to play, just make sure you have fun!

Spend More Time In Nature

We’ve written an entire article about what nature does to our bodies and mind, and you would be surprised at the effects nature has on our minds and bodies.

But generally, you’ll want to be at least ten or fifteen minutes outdoors surrounded by a lot of green (metro areas like Downtown Augusta don’t count).

Spending time at the beach or near a lake counts too.

Change Takes Time

New Year’s Resolutions have always been about turning ourselves into better versions of what we already are. However, change does not happen overnight.

You can constantly work at it until it becomes a habit.

We wish you the best of luck with whichever New Year’s Resolution you decide to make.
