It’s finally spring! And, of course, when spring arrives, you have to get your porch and patio ready for the season.

To help out, we’ve collected a couple of tips you can use to help clean your outdoor living area and help it stand out.

Clean Your Porch Before You Set Up Decor

Clean the Pollen and Cobwebs

Before you even start decorating your porch, you want to get rid of the cobwebs and pollen in those hard-to-reach places. Not only is it embarrassing for your guests to point it out, but leaving it alone could cause more to pop up.

The easiest way to do that is by using a duster with an extended pole to wipe them away.

Clean with a Leafblower

Your next step is to get all the leaves out of your porch. The most effective way to do this is with a leafblower. You want to use that blower on your floors, ceilings, and even the railing.

Clean Your Windows

The last thing you need to do before setting up your porch is clean your windows.

Now, you could use store products to do this, or alternatively, use dishwashing liquid, warm water, and a squeegee to clean them.

This cleaning method won’t leave any streaks on your windows and is cost-effective.

Home Decor Ideas for Your Porch

Decorate by Adding a Large Dining Table

If you plan on hosting dinner parties soon, here’s your chance to get a dining table for your back porch. You’ll have to get one large enough to hold all of your guests, and that’s designed for the outdoors.

Of course, it doesn’t end there. You want to decorate your outdoor dining table with dinner plates and a centerpiece, much like an indoor table.

Add a Bar Cart to Your Outdoor Living Area

If you’re not sure what a bar cart is, it’s essentially mobile storage for the wine or liquor of your choice. Of course, you don’t want your liquor basking in the sun, so you want to put it in ice.

You’ll have a couple of cups stacked beside the liquor and some ice for your guests to put into their cups.

However, if you’re hosting an alcohol-free party, you’ll still have some use for a bar cart. You could use a bar cart for soda, non-alcoholic seltzer, sparking juice, etc.

Try Sitting around a Fire Pit

If you never plan to host dinner parties, maybe a dining table isn’t the right fit for you. Perhaps you want to consider a fire pit.

Such an arrangement allows you and your friends to enjoy each other’s company while watching the flames dance in the pit.

It’s the perfect setting for an evening chat or a time to share scary stories with children.

Something DIY

You can very quickly make a farmhouse milk can patio table. All you need is a milk can and a circular wooden top, and you have a rustic side table.

These small tables really help create a traditional, rural style for your porch. And if it is compared with more conventional outdoor patio decor items, you’ll have an old-style, gorgeous patio.

How about an Outdoor Couch?

If you’re not a big fan of hosting outdoor dinner parties, then perhaps you can always treat yourself to a lovely outdoor couch where you can sit down, unwind, and admire the beauty of nature.

And if you buy a set with a couch and two seats, you could have them face the couch. That way, you and your guests have a direct line of vision at one another and an area perfect for socialization.

Hang Some Plotted Plants

This is a new, trendy way to have potted plants on your porch. You can hang a chandelier of plotted plants from the ceiling of your porch.

It will really bring in that warm, fuzzy feeling of being outdoors during such a beautiful time of year.

Alternatively, you could fill in the empty space of your porch by having various plotted plants all around your patio.

Be mindful of the amount of sun your porch or patio gets during the day. Fortunately, you can find a variety of plants that thrive in full sun and plants that need at least 6 hours of direct sun daily.

What Setting Up Your Porch Does For You

Setting up your porch will take a lot of time and effort. Still, your guests will notice all the extra effort you’ve put into making your outdoor area beautiful.

You’ll also feel a lot more comfortable spending time on a beautiful, properly set-up porch. It’ll become the perfect environment for you to get your outdoor time in.
