Playing outside is one of the best ways to spend free time in Columbia County. There is no shortage of beautiful parks in our area, and more are on the way! The more, the merrier. Whether you like to go to parks for sports, leisure, or to let the kids burn some energy for nap time, these new developments will have something for everyone.

Patriots Park Expansion

Patriots Park is already a well-established and loved Columbia County landmark nestled between William Few Parkway and Columbia Road. For better connectivity, they are expanding the two main sections of the park with a new large activity field. It will be complete with additional restrooms, lighting, concessions and parking spots. The project is estimated to be complete this fall.

Gateway Park

With the steady growth of Grovetown, a new park seemed to fit right in. Gateway Park will be added to the Gateway Crossing area near the Columbia County Exhibition Center, right off of I-20. The park will be modeled after the popular Evans Towne Center Park complete with a playground area and massive splash pad for warmer weather. There will also be a large covered pavilion and walking path surrounding the park. It is set to open this fall as well.

Lakeside Park

A new addition to the Martinez area will be Lakeside Park, located near Lakeside High School. It will primarily be used for athletic activities with 4 multipurpose fields and 6 tennis courts. There will also be walking fields and a playground area for little ones. Construction is estimated to be complete late this fall or early winter.

Columbia County is a wonderful place to live, work and play. Be sure to make room in your schedule to visit these amazing parks and expansions later this year – you won’t regret it!
