Taking a trip off the beaten path from Augusta, you will find enjoyable country life in Hephzibah – just 14 miles away from the big city. A popular spot to visit in Hephzibah for locals or for a quick trip out of Augusta, as well as to support local sports is Diamond Lakes Regional Park. The 286 acre site was originally part of the former Augusta International Speedway. The City of Augusta purchased the land and in 1999, it became Diamond Lakes.

Diamond Lakes offers multiple walking tracks from 1 to 1.2 miles. There are also wooded picnic areas to enjoy a nice meal or snack complete with tables and grills. Two playgrounds are available for children of all ages to enjoy! For those who enjoy fishing, there are four fishing ponds in the park.

For the sports fan or recreational player, Diamond Lakes comes complete with a sand volleyball court, two horseshoe pits, tennis courts and basketball courts. Baseball players and fans can enjoy the spacious five-field complex for youth baseball and softball, as well as an additional five-field adult complex. Both baseball complexes are multi-level and feature concession stands for games, observation decks and more.

A covered pavilion area is also available at Diamond Lakes to rent for parties and events. There are 10 picnic tables and 2 grills under the pavilion, making it perfect for a spring or summer cookout with family and friends.

As of 2018, Diamond Lakes now offers a 26-site campground! For those who enjoy camping but may not want to drive all the way out to the lake or other popular sites, Diamond Lakes Campground is perfect. It is surrounded by the full fishing ponds and each spot includes fire pits, electricity hookups, water, and sewage hookups. The sites are available for both RVs and regular tents.

In addition to all of these wonderful features, the Robert Howard Community Center is an anchor point of Diamond Lakes Regional Park. The 43,000 square foot building is the first of its kind in the area and is the largest recreational building in the city of Augusta. Multiple rooms and gym areas are available as well as the Diamond Lakes Library.

As you can see, Diamond Lakes Regional Park is a one-stop shop for all of your recreational and leisure needs. Give the beautiful facility a visit today!
