One of the best ways to relax during the summer is on the porch with a cup of coffee or iced tea and a good book to read. If there’s a nice morning breeze, it’s easy to get swept away in the story and forget about your troubles for the day. While there are plenty of great books on the national lists to purchase, why not go for a change of pace and look into some local authors from your own area? Here is a list of local authors and their books:

Bill Baab, Remembering George W. Perry

Baab is the former outdoor editor and sports writer for the Augusta Chronicle. His book, Remembering George W. Perry, is an account of an angler who caught a world-record bass in 1932. The book brings out his quirky personality and life story before and after fishing fame.

Lee Benedict, Freedom Heist: The Left’s Theft of Liberty

This book was written in 2013 by a former U.S. Army Sergeant who has gone on to work for local, state, and federal campaigns. Freedom Heist answers questions voters may have around election periods and gives historical context

Tripp Bowden, Freddie and Me: Life Lessons from Freddie Bennett, Augusta National’s Legendary Caddie Master

Bowden is a former caddy for the Augusta National Golf Club who grew up forming an unusual bond via his father with Freddie Bennett. Bennett introduced Bowden to the game of golf on the world’s greatest course and taught him life lessons outside of the sport as well. It is the heartwarming tale of two unlikely friends.
