Your April To-Do List

Staying organized and on top of simple tasks will ensure a worry-free summer. Take a look at these 4 things you should check off today to enjoy the warm weather this season:

Prevent and control insect issues.

Warmer weather means the bugs come out – it’s their favorite time of year. Even if you haven’t noticed any pests yet, take preventive measures to guarantee that they won’t bug you later on. Seal openings in decks and other structures that are common breeding grounds for pests and eliminate any standing water to keep mosquitoes away. If you find any wasp or yellow jacket nests, call a pro to help remove them.

Get tools prepped for lawn care.

If you haven’t cranked up the lawn mower yet this season, now is the time to do so. With Masters week right around the corner, everyone wants their yards looking crisp and beautiful! You also need to make sure the equipment is well-maintained and be prepared for any repairs or replacements that may be needed. Be sure to clean and sharpen gardening tools as well so plants are ready for pruning.

Turn on the air conditioner.

It’s best to get the air going in April before summer power rates start to rise. If your HVAC has a maintenance plan, take advantage of that to be sure that the system is functioning properly to avoid a meltdown in the future.

Take a look at the attic and garage.

Before it gets unbearably hot outside, take a trip to the attic and do a quick investigation. Are there signs of animal activity that pest control should be called for? Damaged insulation or wiring? Now is the time to address it. Make sure any stored items are tightly secured and add or replace moth repellents. In the garage, take a little time to reorganize and gain control of your space again.

Once you’ve checked these chores off of your list, find a comfy spot in the backyard and relax! You’ve earned it.
