As we head into the holiday season, many paint and decor companies are releasing their color of the year for 2022. This gives us a look ahead to a new year after the holidays wind down and an idea for an interior refresh after the ornaments and lights have been put away.

Benjamin Moore – October Mist

The soft, silvery green from Benjamin Moore Paints has a botanical feel and accentuates other nature-inspired hues for the homeowner who likes their decor to be simple, yet still make a statement. The soft tones of this color pair beautifully with richer, darker shades and create unique combinations.

Sherwin Williams – Evergreen Fog

Similar to October Mist, Sherwin Williams’ Evergreen Fog is a comforting color that shifts away from the basic neutrals or bold colors of previous years. It represents quiet, calm, and restorative energy.

Glidden – Guacamole

Don’t judge a paint color by its name! Glidden’s choice for 2022 is refreshing and relaxing without being overpowering. Green is known as a soothing color, and it has risen in popularity over the past year. This shade pairs wonderfully with matte black pieces and light wood tones.

Behr – Breezeway

This brighter, yet soft green by Behr imitates the sea glass on sandy beaches. The shade is tranquil, but can also be energizing with its cool undertones. Mix it with bright white accents for a clean contrast or warm, natural tones for a relaxing atmosphere.

PPG – Olive Sprig

This organic shade of green is similar to that of an aloe plant or sage leaves. The color was chosen to represent regrowth and resiliency in a new year post-pandemic and brings a grounding energy.

Designers are beginning to stray from the simple, neutral palettes and leaning towards optimistic colors like these to usher in a new era of home design. Try samples of these shades in your home if you’re looking to renovate in the new year!
