Are you a fan of reading or have you recently begun to enjoy it? Due to staying home more than usual during the pandemic, many people have taken up reading as a hobby to keep their minds on something other than the news or social media. Gathering is still important and beneficial, whether it is important or online. Why not take your solo hobby and join a book club? It is an opportunity to discuss your favorite reads with other bookworms in the area and you could make new friends in the process. Check out these local book clubs in the CSRA if you’re wanting to take your reading to a group environment:

  • The Appleby branch of the Augusta-Richmond County Library System hosts monthly book club meetings for children, teens and adults. Click here for more details on times and location.
  • The Augusta Book Club Meetup Group hosts monthly meetings at Barnes & Noble in the Augusta Mall to discuss their latest reads.
  • The Grovetown Library hosts “On the Same Page” book club on the 4th Thursday of each month at 10:30.
  • There is a women’s book club in Aiken called Aiken to Read meets the first Monday of every month to discuss new reads. They also meet at local restaurants on the third Thursday of each month to meet new group members and create friendships.
  • If you are looking for a virtual option to stay safe and socially distanced, the Aiken Regional Library System hosts an Online Adult Book Club monthly. You can register at the Aiken Library to learn how to join.
  • Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Beazley, REALTORS® host a monthly book club for their agents. If you’re interested, join the team.

These are just a few of the book clubs that meet around the CSRA. With various meeting times and group options, you are sure to find the right fit for you and meet new friends. Reading is an important exercise for your brain, so make it fun and include others on your reading journey.
